Dear Members:
We continue to have such good news about our many exciting programs, but also about our many extraordinary members. Almost every week I read about an award, a promotion or some recognition of one of our many members and it reminds me of what an accomplished and celebrated group of women our IWF Georgia members are.
February 10th Luncheon at The Carter Center, hosted by Ambassador Mary Ann Peters and Featuring President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter
We had a record attendance at this wonderful event that was in the planning for months. Working with our new member, Ambassador Mary Ann Peters and current CEO of the Carter Center since late last summer, we were able to get on the calendar of President and Mrs. Carter. President Carter joined us with some comments on his work and the focus on women and girls, and answered questions from our members. Mrs. Carter, one of our prestigious founders, joined us for the luncheon and for group photos. We had six current and Past Presidents in attendance, joining Mrs. Carter at her luncheon table. There are many wonderful photos that we can share with you and some will be on our website, or you can view & download Carter event photos by clicking here. We want to thank both The Carter Center and Georgia Power for their generous support for the program, and of course, Mary Ann Peters for her tireless effort to help coordinate.
January 11th Luncheon: "Jerusalem: A City Divided" - hosted by Gail Evans
When IWF Global announced the 2016 Cornerstone Conference was to be held in Tel Aviv, Gail Evans immediately went to work to organize, host and sponsor a very informative program to help us understand and demystify the city of Jerusalem. The program had over 60 members attending and was a very exciting way to start our 2016 program year.
March 8 An Evening at The Opera
Months ago, we started meeting with Tomer Zvulen, the General Manager and Artistic Director for the Atlanta Opera. Tomer brings world class talent to our local opera company and is quickly bringing national and global accolades to the programming. We wanted to create an event that would allow our members a chance to get “up close and personal” with Tomer and with the Opera operations, by organizing a private dinner, backstage tour and best-in-class seats at the performance of Pirates of Penzance. If you haven’t signed up yet, please click here to email Jennifer Langley immediately if you are interested, and purchase/register online. The following are planning to attend:
Amanda Brown Olmstead
Elizabeth Buttimer
Katharine Bremer
Lynne Borsuk
Susan Bell
Dianne Harnell Cohen
Susana Chavez w/Jim O'Callahan
Roxanne Douglas
Sallie Daniel
Gail Evans
Aida Perez Flamm w/Karla Arriola
Alicia Ivey
Marsha Johnson
Lianne Levetan
Jennifer Langley
Mary Pat Matheson
Shirley Mitchell
Elizabeth Noe
LaVelle Olexa
Clare Richardson
Christine St.Clare
Leslie Sibert
Michele Swann
Pat Upshaw-Monteith
Dine Arounds
In every Forum conference and in every Forum chapter, the overwhelming feedback from members is that Dine Arounds are the favorite event. These intimate dinners, hosted by members in their homes for six-ten members, provide a unique and bonding experience among our members. Please consider hosting a dinner in 2016 (April 12 is booked, but hostesses needed for September 13), and if you cannot host, please make sure to mark your calendars and click hereto attend. If you have attended in the past, you know why you don’t want to miss it. If you haven’t attended, come see why this is the favorite of all our programs.
IWF Global World Cornerstone Conference: Tel Aviv, Seek, Solve & Soar
If you are planning on attending this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in life-changing dialogs and meet women that are truly having a global impact, please let me or Jennifer Langley know as we plan to organize a small get-together while we are all in Tel Aviv. If you are interested and have not yet registered, click here for details and registration for the IWF World Cornerstone Conference in Tel Aviv, May 17-19, 2016.
Membership Recognitions
There have been so many exciting announcements to mention and I am fearful of leaving some out, but one I must mention is the 2016 Annual POW! Awards. This year, five of the honorees are members of our IWF Forum: Carol Tome, (Lifetime Achievement Award recipient) and Ambassador Mary Ann Peters; Elisabeth Kiss; Wonya Lucas and Mary Moore. As you probably know, they will be honored at the Annual Luncheon on April 19th. If any of you have an interest in participating in an IWF table, please let me or Jennifer Langley know (Tickets are $250 each). To view more on this and other member news, click here.
In Summary
We are off to a great start in 2016 and while we are so excited about your participation in our first two events, we hope to see you at the upcoming programs and Dine Arounds. I know you will find that the more you participate, the more value you will realize from getting to know the many remarkable women that make up our IWF Georgia Forum.
My best,
Christine St.Clare
