A FOLLOW-UP LETTER FROM DR. GREGORY ELLISON:
Fellow Sojourners,
I hope this message meets you in high hopes and good spirits. One week ago, we met in the Laboratory of Discovery at the International Women’s Forum luncheon. It was an honor and privilege to share my life’s work and the vital message of seeing and hearing the unacknowledged all around us.
As promised, I am writing to inquire about the “three feet around you.” In the final minutes of our session, you were invited to join countless others around this globe in the Fearless Dialogues 3-feet challenge. Recall that you were asked to “see” three people that crossed within three feet of you in three days. After hearing the stories of those three people, you were encouraged to write those three names on the Ikea measuring tape and place the measuring tape in a visible place in your office, home, or vehicle. A few reflection questions:
1. How did it feel to participate in the 3-Feet Challenge?
2. How did the three persons that you took the time to see and hear respond?
3. What did you learn about yourself?
4. How did this exercise alter your vision and how you move in the world?
If time permits, please take a picture of (or with) your measuring tape and email it back to me. I would love to add your picture to our growing collection of individuals who are changing their communities, families, and workplaces three feet at a time. Join the movement… (Due to IWF’s policy on confidentiality, I am only able to send this email to those of you whose business cards I gathered on last week. I encourage you to please forward this email to your colleagues who joined us in the Laboratory, but are not listed above.)
Click on this LINK to view photographs of our Fearless Dialogues session taken by Samuel White. Please notify me if you would not like these images to be shared beyond this group.
Finally, I am grateful for your affirmative words following lunch. I would love to see you again and stay in touch. I welcome any advice, wisdom, or ideas that you might share to make the work of Fearless Dialogues sustainable. If there is any way I can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or the cell phone number below.
Peace to you and yours.
